East Tennessee has a long tradition of haunted attractions, from sprawling outdoor trails and rural haunts to elaborate indoor attractions filled with actors, effects, and immersive environments. Every fall, thousands of people head out in search of a good scare, but discovering everything our region has to offer is not always easy.
That is where Tennessee Screams comes in.
Tennessee Screams is a cooperative promotional platform created to support and grow the haunted attraction industry throughout East Tennessee. Our goal is simple: help more people discover local haunted attractions, build excitement for Haunt Season, and strengthen the haunted attraction community across the region.
A Hub for Haunt Season
Tennessee Screams is not intended to replace the websites or social media pages of individual haunted attractions. Instead, we want to serve as a starting point.
Visitors can come to Tennessee Screams to discover participating attractions, learn a little about what makes each one unique, and then follow links directly to the attraction’s official website for schedules, ticket information, directions, and the latest updates.
Whether you are looking for an old-school haunted trail through the woods, a highly themed indoor attraction, a haunted farm with additional activities, or simply something frightening to do on an October weekend, we want to make it easier to explore what East Tennessee has to offer.
Growing the Audience for Haunted Attractions
One of our most important goals is to introduce haunted attractions to people who may not already consider themselves dedicated haunt fans.
There are plenty of people who love Halloween, fall festivals, scary movies, ghost stories, and seasonal entertainment but may only visit a haunted attraction occasionally—or may never have visited one at all.
We want to help change that.
By promoting Haunt Season as something worth celebrating throughout East Tennessee, Tennessee Screams can help introduce new guests to local attractions while encouraging existing fans to explore more than one haunt during the season.
A stronger audience benefits everyone.
Cooperation Instead of Competition
Haunted attractions naturally compete for customers, but they also share many of the same challenges.
Advertising can be expensive. Reaching new audiences can be difficult. And many people simply do not realize how many different haunted experiences are available within a reasonable drive.
Tennessee Screams gives participating attractions an opportunity to work together where cooperation makes sense.
Through shared promotion, seasonal content, cooperative advertising, community outreach, and cross-promotion, we can create a larger presence for the haunted attraction industry than any one attraction could easily create on its own.
The goal is not to convince guests to choose one attraction over another. It is to encourage them to experience more of Haunt Season.
Celebrating the Haunts of East Tennessee
Every haunted attraction has its own personality.
Some are polished and theatrical. Others embrace an old-school, handmade style. Some take guests deep into the woods or through cornfields. Others surround visitors with elaborate sets, lighting, sound, animatronics, and special effects. Many offer additional entertainment such as midway games, escape experiences, concessions, axe throwing, or seasonal activities.
That variety is part of what makes the haunted attraction community interesting.
Tennessee Screams wants to celebrate those differences rather than declare one attraction the “best.” Our job is to help visitors understand what each participating haunt offers so they can discover experiences that appeal to them.
More Than a Directory
As Tennessee Screams grows, this website will also become a source for stories and information about haunted entertainment in East Tennessee.
We plan to feature articles about local attractions, Halloween traditions, behind-the-scenes aspects of the haunt industry, tips for first-time visitors, regional haunt history, special events, and other topics connected to the Halloween season.
We also hope to build stronger connections between haunted attractions and the communities they serve through conventions, local events, cooperative promotions, and other opportunities throughout the year.
